Description

Description

Shavit launched Israel’s first satellite, Ofeq-1, in 1988, making Israel the eighth country to reach orbit on its own rocket. To keep its spent stages away from its neighbours, it launches westward over the Mediterranean from Palmachim, against the direction the Earth turns, which costs it payload.
