Atlas-Agena, the rocket that sent Mariner 2 to Venus and the Ranger probes to the Moon, and launched Gemini’s docking targets.
Atlas-Agena put an Agena upper stage on an Atlas booster, and through the 1960s it carried many of NASA’s first planetary probes: Mariner 2, the first spacecraft to fly past another planet, at Venus in 1962, and the Ranger probes that sent back close-up pictures of the Moon before they hit it.
It also launched the Agena target vehicles that Gemini astronauts docked with, the first dockings in orbit.
