New Shepard, Blue Origin’s reusable suborbital rocket, named after Alan Shepard, flying passengers past the edge of space since 2021.
New Shepard is a reusable rocket and capsule that make an eleven-minute hop past the Kármán line, the 100-kilometre edge of space, and come back: the booster lands upright on its engine, and the capsule comes down under parachutes. It’s named after Alan Shepard, whose 1961 flight was suborbital too. Since 2021 it’s carried passengers, William Shatner among them.
