KSLV-1, or Naro, South Korea’s first orbital rocket, which reached orbit on its third try in January 2013.
KSLV-1, also called Naro, was a partnership: its first stage came from Russia, based on the Angara design, and its solid-fuel upper stage was built in South Korea. The first two launches, in 2009 and 2010, failed. The third, on 30 January 2013, put the STSAT-2C satellite into orbit from Naro Space Center, South Korea’s own launch site.
