Scout, the small all-solid-fuel American rocket that launched satellites for more than thirty years, from Wallops Island to a platform off Kenya.
Scout was the first rocket to reach orbit on solid-fuel stages alone, and its four stages made it simple to store and launch. NASA flew it from 1961 to 1994 from Wallops Island, Vandenberg, and the Italian San Marco platform off the coast of Kenya, launching small science and navigation satellites for the US, Europe and others.
